Marcella "Marcy" Meffert Obituary
June 10, 1934 - August 3, 2018
Marcella " Marcy " Meffert, age 84, died in San Antonio, TX on August 3, 2018. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Margaret Czarnecki on June 10, 1934; she married the love of her life, Roland "Rollie" Meffert, and together they traveled due to his military career. Although she enjoyed embarking on many travels, her true passion was to write. Marcy began as a volunteer columnist with the Leon Valley newspaper. She then began writing for the San Antonio Light and was a program manager at WOAI radio.

She left San Antonio for a few years; upon returning Marcy got involved with politics. She served on the Leon Valley City Council and as Mayor of Leon Valley from 1998-2004. While serving as Mayor she helped lead the way of the Huebner Onion Homestead restoration, helped save Evers School, and assisted founding the Los Leones Student Arts Festival in Leon Valley, to name a few of her accomplishments.

In 2008 she began her column in the San Antonio Express newspaper. Many related to her topics as she was noted for having a wicked sense of humor, whimsical, and motivational to growing older.

She inspired many through her bold aspirations while also treasuring the aspects of her life that were unremarkable, and would do it all over again.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland Meffert; son, Dr. Jeff Meffert; daughter, Lisa Meffert; and grandsons Austin and Ian Meffert. She is survived by daughter, Sarah Meffert Becher of San Antonio,TX; son, Greg Meffert and wife Linda of Leon Valley, TX ; son, Dr. Douglas Meffert and husband Lee Ledbetter of New Orleans, LA; daughter-in-law, Dr. Paula Lyons of San Antonio, TX; grandsons: Matthew, Jackson, Mason, and Tyler; and great-grandson Leon.

The family will receive guests at Sunset Northwest funeral home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Marcy's Life at 4:00 p.m.
