Marcia McCain, born on May 1, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas. Passed away in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, 2/04/2019 at the age of 78 years and 9 months. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lois McCain and her brother Phil McCain. Marcia is survived by her son Tim Suddarth of Round Rock, Texas. Marcia graduated from Topeka High School, shortly after married Thom Suddarth, they had one son, Tim. Marcia was employed by Southwestern Bell/AT&T. Later in life in 1965, married Gordon Lallky for 30 years. In 1968, they both transferred within the [email protected] Company to San Antonio. Marcia held several managerial positions, and accrued 21 years of perfect attendance. She was one tough cookie, she was one of the first females to be promoted to manage an all-male crew of rough telephone linemen, and mastered the telephone pole climbing ability. She was sought after to demonstrate how to climb telephone poles safely. She was also involved in numerous charitable groups and served at administrative positions with the AT&T Telephone Pioneers. After 33 years with AT&T she retired, only then to dedicate her time volunteering her services to the Blue Bird Auxiliary at the Methodist Medical Center, accumulating 10654 hours service. In her spare time, she made missionary trips to South America and to the Holy Land where she was baptized in the Jordan River, floated on the Dead Sea, sailed the Sea of Galilee and visited the Paths that Jesus walked. Visitation and Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on 1701 Old Austin Highway, at 11 am on Wednesday 2-13-2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the A.F.T.D.
