Chaplain (Col) (Ret) Raymond Eugene Barry passed peacefully from this life on October 25, 2018 at Northeast Baptist Hospital, San Antonio, TX. He is survived by his wife beloved and loving wife, Ruth, and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Barry of Estero, FL; children Charlayne Barry McCarn and Lt. Col. (Ret) Albert McCarn of Charlotte, NC, John and Sonia Roper of San Antonio (John and Catherine Roper), and David and Lynn Roper of Austin; and eight beloved grandchildren. Chaplain Barry faithfully served the soldiers and their families of the United States Army as a minister ordained by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). His military career began on February 1, 1957, after graduation from Phillips Theological Seminary, featuring assignments in the U.S., Europe, Vietnam, and Korea, culminating as Command Chaplain, U.S. Army Information Systems Command, Fort Huachuca, AZ, where he retired on April 30, 1986, at the rank of Colonel. After retirement, he served as Developer Pastor for the Protestant Church, Air Force Village II. He and Ruth have been active members of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church (https://www.ahumc.org/). Please send memorial gifts to the church, or the charity or ministry of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 12th at 1:00 pm at Alamo Heights Methodist Church; 825 E. Basse Rd; San Antonio, TX 78209.
