Raymond Gordon Armstrong Obituary
December 1, 1932 - January 10, 2018
Dr. Raymond Gordon Armstrong of San Antonio, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. We will miss this dear husband, father, friend, doctor and wise counselor! Raymond was born in Boston, Massachusetts in December 1, 1932 to Madeline Coy Armstrong and Joseph Armstrong. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota where he also attended Medical School. He served as a doctor in the USAF for 19 years. Most of those years he was at Wilford Hall Hospital at Lackland AFB where he did his surgical residency and specialized in Cardio Thoracic Surgery. During the Vietnam War he served in the Philippines. After his time in the military, Dr. Armstrong joined the practice of Cardiac Surgical Associates. Countless patients were helped through his surgical skill and caring attention. After retiring from this practice, Raymond devoted his life and medical expertise to helping those bound in addiction to find a life of freedom.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Armstrong, his children- Archpriest John (Richard) Armstrong, Cathryn Armstrong Merrill, Jamie Armstrong, Scott Armstrong and Karin Armstrong Braun and 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Friends and family, alike, have been touched personally by Raymond's deep and meaningful words of wisdom. He will be missed greatly! After 38 years as a friend of Bill W, one of his final requests was, "Tell them I made it!".

A memorial service for Raymond will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at Covenant Presbyterian Church located at 211 Roleto Drive, San Antonio, TX 78213.
