Wilbert Gus Volkmann, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Born on February 21,1926 to Paul and Lillie Volkmann was embraced by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 13, 2018, at the age of 92.

He retired from Swift and Company after over 45 years of service. He was a member of Hermanns Son's and just received recognition for 75 years.
Wilbert was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed dancing and traveling to Casinos and playing dominoes with anyone and everyone.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years Rosalie Volkmann, his sister Ruby Mattke, his brothers Elton Volkmann, Herbert Volkmann, Milton Volkmann, Alfred Volkmann, Stanfield Volkmann and Dayton Volkmann. He is survived by his daughter Rose Elaine Detmar and husband Wayne, grandchildren Jason Detmar and Matthew Detmar, his sister Gertrude Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Hwy. Funeral Service will be Friday May 18,2018 at 10 am at Highland Park Lutheran Church, 705 Hammond Ave, San Antonio, TX 78210. Interment will follow at Chapel Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Highland Park Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and Franklin Park TPC Parkway and Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
