Kelley Hankins Obituary

Kelley Anne Hankins, born October 1, 1966, in Riverside, California, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, in San Antonio at the age of 41. Kelley was the most incredibly devoted wife and mom who took great pride in all her children's achievements, and was a loving daughter. She challenged herself by setting her own expectations in everything she did. Something acceptable in her eyes would be immaculate to anyone else. Her heart and soul went into everything she did. Her ability to inspire others went beyond her art. Kelley had the ability to make a lasting impression on everyone she met. She defined what a free spirit is. Kelley was very giving to her community as an artist, painting various signs, games, cubbies, and other items for the school and her church, Coker United Methodist. As a scenic artist she had over 25 feature films screen credits, working on films such as 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Second Hand Lions', 'Michael', 'The Alamo', and her last film, 'Kings of Appleton'. She touched the lives of many other artists in her field, teaching her craft to many. She is survived by her husband, Archie Hankins Jr.; 3 children, Audrey, Irene, and Archer Hankins; her loving parents Tony and Carole Collopy; 2 brothers, Tony Collopy and wife Martha, and Jeff Collopy and wife Christina; and many nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICE SATURDAY, JULY 26, 2008 6:30 P.M. COKER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (OLD CHAPEL) 231 E. NORTH LOOP RD. Pastor Sharon Stewart will officiate. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made, in Kelley's name, to Coker United Methodist, 231 E. North Loop Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78216. Due to the nature of the loss, friends of immediate family may send flowers to Tony and Carole. Kelley will be missed. What a wonderful, loving mother/person she was. She was so involved with her children and was eager to help anyone with anything. Audrey was in my fourth grade class and also in the Young Astronaut Club of which I am a sponsor. Audrey is an example of what a super mom Kelley was--all around outstanding! Everyone who knew Kelley was blessed and they have a portion of that sunshine (sonshine) that she brought along with her wherever she went. The family has been and will continue to be in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy to Kelley's husband, her 3 children, family and friends...I knew Kelley from Cincinnati and it was her inspiration that guided me into becoming a signmaker which has been my career path since. I'm blessed to have known her.

Kelley will be greatly missed. She touched my life in so many ways. She was one of those friends that appreciated every little thing that you did for them and never considered the kind and generous things that she did for her friends as anything out of the ordinary. She was always completely committed to whatever she was invloved in. She had a genuine kind and loving spirit and I will miss her greatly. Archie, Audrey, Irene and Archer we will be here for you whenever you need us.
