Shane Garcia Obituary
Shane Anthony Garcia, born May 4, 1995, passed away September 6, 2009 at the age of 14. He was an avid gamer and loved reading books. A freshman at O'Connor High School. He is survived by his mother, Shannon F. Trejo and stepfather, Gabriel A. Trejo; father, Ray Anthony Garcia and stepmother, Jeanette Garcia; siblings, Sky Trejo, Arrissa Rae Garcia, Gabrielle Trejo; paternal grandparents, Aurora and David Garcia; maternal grandparents, Marylou and M.P. Garza, Frank and Vicky Cortinas. Also, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and numerous pets. Visitation will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 4:00 pm-9:00 pm with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony Claret followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian. Services under the direction of:

I miss you so much. Every September, I am taken back and the hurt opens anew. It is in these times that thinking of you, even though it hurts so, I feel so close to you. I hear your laughing voice: "Oh Uncle John." then you'd laugh outright. There is not a single thing I do not miss about you and I cannot wait to be reunited with you. Hi Shaner, Have you been busy playing baseball and all sorts of sports with Tim up there? You went home two days before Tim's anniversary so I know he was there to welcome you into the Kingdom of God. As a matter of fact Eric and I planted a Magnolia tree in the front of the house in memory of you and Tim. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

Shannon my darling, ever since Shane was born you loved him so very much. I saw you go through the pain and heartbreak with his diagnosis. You struggled and you fought to get him what he needed to make him comfortable. You defended him and protected him from anyone hurting him. You attended meeting after meeting, and you were sensitive to those that did not know. You made sure everyone treated him with respect. For most of his life you took him to doctor visits, therapy sessions, exercise classes, examinations, trips to doctors out of the city. You always made sure he was looking nice and smelling good. He loved you very much. You held him told him how much you loved him every single day. Thats why my darling "YOU ARE MY HERO". I love you sweetheart.

I had the pleasure of working last year with Shane at Stevenson. Rachel, Shane, Clara and I would head to Reddix every other Thursday and have so much fun together. I did not know Shane well at all, really only was around him a couple of times...but my husband always spoke of him with great joy and love. To all who were lucky enough to be a part of Shane's life, there will be an emptiness in our hearts. Working with him in aquatics was a treat for all as he was also positive and smiling. Shane was a dear friend to my daughter Rachel. They went to Nellie Reddix together for Aquatics. They would encourage and tease eachother during their sessions together. They both loved to read and play games and their sense of humor was wonderful. Rachel and I are very sorry for your loss. Shane was a wonderful boy we will always hold him special in our hearts. The love a parent has for their child is the greatest and most unconditional there is.
