William Cryer Obituary

CRYER
William Lloyd "Bill" Cryer Sr. passed away on January 14, 2012 at the age of 84. He was born September 11, 1927 in Morgan County, Somerville, Alabama. He married Henrietta Aaron on September 2, 1947, while in the U.S. Army Air Corp stationed at Lackland. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His passion for life touched many lives and he will be deeply missed. He was with the Southern Pacific Railroad for 40 years and retired as assistant chief clerk. He also served as a union representative for BRAC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hammond and Bertha (Newton) Cryer, one sister, Eva and four brothers, Leon, Leslie, Doryce, and Leonard; son William L. Cryer Jr. and son-in-law Russell Pelton. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Henrietta Cryer and two daughters, Melanie Hittson and husband Robert of Floresville and Melissa Pelton of San Antonio; four grandchildren, William V. Cryer and wife, Jennafer of San Antonio; Gregory Cryer and wife Anne of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, Jason Pelton and wife Crystahl of Austin, and Elizabeth DeBriscoe of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jenevieve, Summer Marie of San Antonio, Owen Thomas and one on the way of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania. Visitation for Bill will be at Dellcrest Funeral Home Wednesday January 18, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation prior to the Funeral Mass on Thursday will begin at 10:00 A.M. And the Funeral Mass will start at 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 19, 2012 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church. The interment will follow at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II. For personal acknowledgment you may sign the guest book at www.missionparks.com in the obituary section.

My Dad worked with Mr Cryer at the Southern Pacific Yard Office. This is how I got to know Mr. Cryer when I was growing up. He was a GOOD MAN and I know the family is going to miss him.
