Robert Drury Obituary

DRURY
Robert A. (Bob) Drury passed away on November 28, 2013 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Kelso, MO on April 3, 1932 to Lambert C. and Lorraine Dohogne Drury. He was 81 years old. He attended St. Augustine grade school in Kelso and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Bob is best known as co-founder of Drury Hotels and his tireless dedication to his faith, community, family and business.

He is survived by his wife, Maria del Carmen Armendariz; his son Richard G.
(ReBeca) Drury ; daughters Kathryn G. Drury and Julie A. (Bruce) Williams; stepsons Richard (Shannon) Armendariz, David (Marisol) Armendariz, and Daniel (Megan) Armendariz; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Charles L. (Shirley) Drury and Jerry M. (Katie) Drury; sisters Nancy
(David) Pfeiffer and Victoria (Ted) Hahn; brother in law Donnie (Wilma) Heisserer; sisters in law Rita M. Drury, Mona (Joe) Nenninger, Carolyn
(Bill) Bohnert, and Charlene Alvarado; and numerous nieces and nephews

Bob was preceded in death by Anna Rose Heisserer Drury, his wife of 45 years; his parents, Lambert C. and Lorraine Drury; his brothers Thomas Drury and James L. Drury; his sisters Patricia Schlosser and Mary Jane Jansen Ford; and his granddaughter Jennifer Davis.

In addition to his business interests, Bob was dedicated to his faith and community. Over the years Bob worked to improve the lives of the less fortunate, directly and indirectly through a variety of charitable organizations. Bob and Carmen recently received the Lifetime Faith and Services Award from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Bob was a member of the American Presidents Association and was Trustee Emeritus of the Notre Dame High School Education Fund Foundation. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1111. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 6 at Notre Dame Regional High School, 265 Notre Dame Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 PM with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, MO on Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 am with Father Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Cathedral Building Fund or Notre Dame Regional Education Fund Foundation.
