Ernest Gould Obituary

November 6, 1930 - August 24, 2014
Ernest "Ernie" William Gould, MSGT, Ret. USAF was called home to be with the lord on August 24th, 2014. God blessed us with a very unique person in Ernie. His humor and love of serving others emanated throughout his life. Anyone who met "Ernie" soon realized his humor and caring nature were his strongest traits. Ernie loved his family, friends and above all the lord. An only child, he is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest C. Gould and Rosanna Gould. Ernie was fortunate to have the love of two women Lucille (Jarry) Gould who passed in 1970 and Norma E. (Mickan) Gould who passed in May 2013. He is survived by his loving children, daughter Nanette E. (Gould) Farr, sons, Steven A. Gould, Thomas M. Gould and wife Susan, Timothy J. Gould and wife Susan and many friends and family. Ernie was born in Biddeford, Maine on November 6, 1930 and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1947. He started his USAF career the following summer and completed his basic training and Intel schools at Lackland and Kessler AFB respectively. A career minded airman, Ernest traveled to many places (Alaska, Germany, Taiwan, Philippines, and Belgium) retiring after 23 years as an intelligence operator. After serving in the military, Ernie transferred to civil service and became the South Pacific Athletic Director for all military services which provided intermural and competitive athletics to active duty airman from 1974-1976. Once Ernie and his family returned to San Antonio, he became a successful realtor with Ray Ellison Industries and Remax for more than 20 years. In later years, Ernie enjoyed traveling with his wife, Norma and pursuing his favorite hobby, golf. A longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Ernie loved to sing andsang in the church choir for many years. In addition, Ernie gave back to his community as he served as regional administrator for Meals on Wheels, San Antonio. Ernie's life is a testament to living a life of faith with love, joy, humor. .

I met Ernie in 1968 when we worked in the same office in USAF Security Service Manpower. From the beginning, I thought of him as a classic gentleman. He was under a heavy burden at the time, but stood up to it with God's loving care. I last saw Ernie in the early 80's when he was selling new homes. I met his second wife, Norma, and also thought of her as a very classy person. Our loss in Heaven's gain.
