Marion Rast Obituary
August 21, 1931 - May 19, 2015
Marion Rast, age 83, entered into eternal rest May 19, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on Aug. 21, 1931 to Lewis Milton and Marion J. Adams in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in piano and a minor in voice. She was married to Edward Rast for 43 years with whom she had four loving children. Marion has always been a devoted servant of God and a dedicated parishioner of St. Paul's Catholic Church, singing in their choir during her early years there. In addition, she gave almost 20 years of service to the Jefferson Outreach for Older People. Even though she suffered from multiple health problems these last two years, her optimism, welcoming smile, and unwavering religious faith were a source of strength and admiration to all who knew and loved her. She always faced adversity with supreme dignity and grace.
She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her seven siblings, as well as her husband, Edward Rast, and her only son, Sean Elliot Rast. She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Paula Rast, Lisa Reyes (Dr. Homer C. Reyes), Alison Petr (Dr. Charles Petr) as well as 7 grandchildren: Kate Vasquez, Kristin Getz, Nicholas Reyes, Ryan Petr, Marc Rast, Christopher Reyes, and Carolyn Petr as well as one great grandchild, Liam Getz. The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone at S.A. Nurses for their dedicated and compassionate care provided for our mother and a very heartfelt thank you to her primary nurse's aide, Carmen Noack (Avionn). In addition, the family is especially grateful for the sensitivity with which Dr. Jairo Melo and Dr. Larry Davis advocated for and directed our mother's care.
Visitation will be held at Roy Akers Funeral Home from 5- 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015. Funeral mass at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church followed by procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for burial at 10:00 a.m.
