We think of you, Maddie and your remaining family so many times and wonder how you are doing. When we go to visit we slow down when we are in your father's section before we visit Douglas. Remember "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away."

Maddie, James Louis and Liz
My heart sank when I walked in Louis and Douglas' room and Louis was gone. Later when my husband, Douglas, passed on, you walked in crying. Two old WWII comrades who never met died on the same day and were taken to Heaven where there is no more suffering. We all lost a loved one the same day. My sympathy to all the family.

Madeline & James, Brutchie & Liz, and the entire Salinas family,
Our condolences to all of you. We are sadden the loss that everyone is feeling. Uncle Louie will be missed by eveyone who knew him. He was a gentle and kind man who shared so many wonderful stories.
I will always remember his special sense of humor. There is one special story that he and I shared for many years. Each time I saw him, I would say "Uncle Louie, you haven't changed a bit! You look as handsome as I remember you when I was a child. He would smile at me and then he would reach for some money out of his pocket as to thank me for the compliment. Instead, as he was still smiling, he would show me an empty hand and say Annie, I don't have any money. We then would both laugh and laugh.
I will also remember all the wonderful memories he, Aunt Emma, and my parents shared. They would travel together and share many happy times. In their later years they would meet evey Wednesday for lunch an then they would visit a mall. Uncle Louie and my dad would find a bench to sit and tell stories while Aunt Emma and mom shopped. Their memories are also our memories because it reminds us of their happy times.
The pride you have for your dad will live on forever. May all the wonderful memories you have of your parents bring you comfort during this difficult.
Our prayers and love are with all of you.

Your Cousins,
Annie and Vic, and Family

We were sadden to learn about your dad. He and your mom were kind, caring, and friendly neighbors to us for over 40 years. We loved all the stories and conversations we shared about your family before he moved away. Your Mom and Dad will be in our prayers and thoughts always.
P.S. When we look across the street, we will remember what good neighbors we had.

Madeline and Brutchie,
I was so sad to hear about the passing of my uncle Louis today. He was always so nice to me, and everyone else for that matter. I will never forget going to visit my uncle Louis at Sears where he worked after he retired from service when I started working on the southside. He always had wonderful stories to share with me, and we laughed a lot together.
I do not know if you know this story, but my mother told me this story several times.
It seems while Louis and Emma were dating, Emma was not allowed to go out with Louis by herself. She had to have a chaperone. So, more often than not, my mother Rebecca was called to duty . Mom loved this.
Louis and Emma liked to go to the movies. Emma would always say she didn't want anything. My mom always ordered popcorn and a Coke. Afterwords, they would go to their favorite place to sit and have something to drink after the movie. Emma, trying to impress Louis, would order just a small Coke. Then, he would turn and ask Rebecca what she wanted. Without hesitation or blinking an eye,my mother always answered "banana split".

My mother always said that Emma was the most beautiful of the three sisters. And she just loved my uncle Louis. (I wonder why?!)
His kind, generous, and wonderful spirit. That's how I will remember my uncle Louis.

To Maddy, James and family.. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Since my father was in the same room with your father at Brookdale and they both passed away on the same day, Mr. Salinas will always have a special place in my heart. On January 31, 2017 my heart was torn twice by the death of not one but two loving fathers. I will think of him often!
