Arnold Nickolas Calabrese Obituary
Arnold Nickolas Calabrese July 29, 1938 - June 29, 2018 La Costa Arnold Nickolas Calabrese, 79, of La Costa, CA, passed away on Friday, June 29th, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones at his side. He was born July 29th, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Tancredi and Caroline (Cercone) Calabrese. He married Judith A. Kossler June 16th, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Langley High School in 1956 then went onto West Liberty College earning a business degree. He was employed with Campbell's Soup/Pepperidge Farms, where he worked for 25 years before starting his own company in California. In 1989, Arnold and Judith co-founded Brite Way Foods with Arnold Jr. (Nol) and Denise joining on in January 1993 and are still in business today. His family meant everything to him, especially his wife, and after his retirement from Brite Way Foods, his biggest joys were the many travels they went on together. A close second were his grandchildren. They lit up his soul and he dedicated himself to being their personal chauffeur and running covert trips to toy stores and candy shops. Arnold is survived by his wife Judith, their daughter Denise Calabrese, son Nol, daughter-in-law Patricia Calabrese and grandchildren, Donovan, Ella, Broderick, Arnold III and Aiden. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Tancredi and Caroline, as well as his siblings, Paul, Charles, Lou, Edward and Caroline. There will be a service of remembrance held at St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach, CA, at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 28th, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. James Academy. The Academy is a small Catholic K-8 grade school that his grandchildren are attending and is in great need of renovations. The family of Arnold would like to thank UCSD La Jolla; Scripps Encinitas Hospital; Dr. Glenn Soppe; La Jolla Nursing and Hospice by the Sea for the special care given to him.
