Charles Ball Obituary
Charles Charlie' Ball November 14, 1985 - January 16, 2019 Del Mar With great sadness, we share the loss of our beloved Charlie. He had a life full of friends, fun and, of course, his music. A talented, self-taught musician, Charlie played with several bands at venues throughout Southern California, including the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. Charlie was happiest when endlessly practicing and playing piano or his prized electric bass guitar. Charlie's friends talk of his strikingly-quick sense of humor; a biting, dry-wit that rocks one's core. Friends remember his independence and perception into life's little things. His insightful observations were unique and appreciated by those who knew him. He was a precious person with a lot of personality. We all loved to laugh with Charlie. Charlie was a voracious reader; his current read was the monster 2,000 page, three-volume, The Gulag Archipelago, although his favorite genre was science fiction. Charlie couldn't get enough stories dealing with technology and human interaction. Charlie was also very talented at computer games. He surprised everyone when he demonstrated online skills and ending up winning the first prize, a coveted $10,000 entry into the World Series of Poker. As Charlie was underage and couldn't use the prize in Las Vegas, the always-resourceful Charlie, found a willing buyeron eBay! Last year Charlie was very excited to be back at school and enrolled at UCSD. His curriculum was concentrated on computer coding and programming. He took to his studies and obtained straight As in his first quarter and was looking forward to a new career. Charlie is survived by his parents Steve Ball and Maria Paz Sandoval of Del Mar and his many extended family members and friends. Charlie will forever be in our hearts. Keep playing the music, Charlie. Services will be held at The Church of the Nativity, 6309 El Apajo Road, Rancho Santa Fe on February 23rd at 11:00 AM.
