Charles Robert Charlie' Carr Oceanside Surrounded by family his final days, Charlie passed peacefully at Tri-City Medical Center. He leaves behind three sons from his 1st wife Dolores Jim (and wife Kitty), Dave, and Larry (and wife Sarah) seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce, 2nd wife Carol, and also leaves behind his companion in recent years Annie. Charlie was born in Cleveland to Hungarian immigrants Charles and Jennie Chiszar. He joined the Army at age 18, serving in Europe at the end of World War II. After his service he graduated from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) with a degree in Physics. He married Dolores in 1952 and moved his family to San Diego in 1959 to escape the Ohio winters and work for Convair in Kearny Mesa. Starting in 1964 he worked as a computer programmer for the Navy civil service in Point Loma until his retirement in 1987. Charlie enjoyed camping and hiking throughout the western US and Mexico, as well as riding his quad runner in the area desert until age 80. He also enjoyed traveling abroad, including trips to England, Australia, and Hawaii. A member of the US Chess Federation, Charlie was an avid and skilled chess player his entire life. He loved music, playing accordion and piano, as well as ballroom and square dancing, which he enjoyed in his final years. A celebration of his life will be held at Ocean Hills Country Club on September 2, 2018 at 1pm. October 4, 1926 - July 30, 2018
