David encapsulated the essence of an event or a dish with savory words and occasional humorous bite. I will never forget his finding me a good job on air. Journalists don't usually support each other. He did. I will miss his je ne sais 'fun'... his expertise, and flair. RIP David.

We met David through his mother Marion--both wonderful people. We were so sorry to hear of his passing--he was fairly young. Our best to his entire family at this sad time.

I will always cherish David. He was a wonderful person and a pure joy to be around. My wife and I loved comparing notes and reviews and find a great hole in the universe with his passing.

Always appreciated his reviews and his subtle (and not so subtle) comments. He was able to capture the essence of eating. Rest in Peace.

David interviewed me in'1984 for San Diego Home/Garden, Silver Fork Award, Seafood Chef at then Cafe Pacifica, Old Town. I was very nervous during that time! I went on to win the award for best Seafood Chef, I cooked a few times for David and was always excited when he came to dine with us!

David was a good friend, an accomplished writer and a fabulous gourmet cook/host. We shared a common history having spent our 20's living in the same Kalorama St. apartment building in Washington, DC...something we discovered over one of his typically wide ranging conversations over dinner. Tom and I will greatly miss his quirky humor and generous spirit. Our condolences to his family and others who loved him as we did.

As a Past-President of Las Patronas in La Jolla, I remember David well as a kind, cheerful & thorough reporter of our work within the San Diego non-profit community. It was a pleasure to work with him.
