San Diego
Edward Michael Goodbody, beloved Father and Grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep December 9th at the age of 93. He and his wife Mary were native San Diegans. As young men, Edward and his brother Bernard were the first US residents to play Jai Alai in Tijuana. His Father and Mother, Michael and Dorothy, purchased Goodbody Mortuary in 1928, which provided Edward's career as a comforting and caring presence for those grieving the loss of their loved ones. Mary called Edward her "Rock" since he could be relied on to assist in any tough situation. Around 1960, when a new Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church was to be built, Edward had the old church building moved and incorporated into Goodbody's as the mortuary Chapel. He is survived by son Michael, daughter Anne Ehrlich and husband Peter, and grandson James and family. Featheringill Mortuary website will provide details of a virtual Memorial planned for January.
