Evelyn Davis Obituary

Evelyn Davis April 18, 1931 - July 30, 2018 San Diego, CA Evelyn Davis, age 87, died at Paradise Valley Manor and Health Care Center in National City, California, on Monday, July 30, 2018. Born April 18, 1931, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Her family moved to San Diego, California, in the early 1940s. She worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility, North Island, as a Production Control Supervisor until retiring in 1986. Evelyn then worked part-time for a few years as a travel agent at Easter's Travel. Evelyn loved to bowl and enjoyed bowling in the travel league. Quite often the travel league would end up in Las Vegas where (after bowling, of course!) she would try her luck at the crap tables, keno or bingo. Traveling was another one of her favorite things to do, whether by car, train, boat or plane. She loved seeing new sights, meeting new people and especially stopping to eat at those fantastic truck stops! Evelyn was one of the kindest, generous, friendly and non-judgemental people in the world. She would give her last dollar if she thought someone needed it. She was a special lady that had a positive impact on many, many people and will be greatly missed by those close to her. She leaves behind many loving family members and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held between on 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018. Email [email protected] for location and details. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service.

Evelyn was one of those people we all thought would be around for ever. She wasn't normally judgemental of others, but did not suffer foolish people or ones who felt they were more important than others. Ev was a very sweet and determined lady.

I will miss her laughter and friendship.

Miss Davis was a warm funny and compassionate friend. My mom (Ruby Ford) met Miss Davis (circa '75) when she joined the league at Plaza Bowl in National City. They became fast friends;so I was fortunate enough to be around Miss Davis's positive spirit and essence for life. Watching from the sidelines Miss Davis and the "Bowling Posse" made me laugh, cry and sometimes shake my head on some of their crazy adventures. What I admired the most was the strength, love and bond that remained in their friendships over the years. Miss Davis was a wonderful person. I will miss her, especially at Christmas... Do I really have to say it? C.C.C.P. ....... "CUSTOMIZED CHRISTMAS COOKIE PLATTER"

REST IN PEACE MISS DAVIS, YOU PLAYED A PERFECT 300 GAME IN LIFE

Aunt Bobbie,
I miss you everyday. Especially your laughter.
I smile at the vision of how you shrug ♂ your shoulders whenever I would ask you a silly question.
I loved watching you play solitaire and asking you who won?
Thank you for the countless homemade cookies. And my stash of ginger and peanut butter.
For being the matriarch.
Talking about dogs and how much we love them.
You are the definition of kindness.
I will always love you.

I'm truly sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing, she was a joy to know. I didn't have the opportunity to work for her, but as a counterpart we got to work on teams together to plan and develop plant improvements. Evelyn was a kindred soul, she was always ready to lend an ear and really listened to what you had to say. The world is a better place for her being here. I will keep you in my prayers.

One of life's pleasures was knowing, working with, 'breaking bread' w/Ms Ev.
I first met her in Bldg 379, North Island in the early 60s when I was planning the Power Plant complex for the then NEW jet engines.
She was outgoing, friendly, & very effective in all matters she pursued & proved very helpful to me in
successfully completing the Power Plant conversion.
Our careers North Island took us in many different directions. She as an expert in using computer driven "stacker cranes" for storage of Avionics Test Equipment---she held 'demos' for Admirals, Captains, managers & other Production Controllers.
One of my greatest joys in the early 1980s was in my promoting her to GS 12 Branch Manager in my Planning Dept---long-overdue because she was a Lady--& guys knew ladies could NEVER do that Job!!!
What a lie & stereotype!
Her reputation was so 'great', other employees would
'beg' to work w/her. I spoke @ her retirement & would "fat mouth' with her @ THE NORIS Annual ReUnions.
And so hurt that I am just now learning of her 'transition'.
My Life is BETTER for having known her as a dear friend & Team Mate over the years.
Rest in Peace, Ms Ev---U left this world a better place.
Keep Rollin'----
