Frank G. Echevarria March 10, 1934 - May 9, 2018 San Diego Frank G. Echevarria passed away suddenly and peacefully on 5/9/18 with his loving wife Ronni by his side, along with dear friend Maggie Johnston. Frank was born in NYC to Eva and Victor Frank Echevarria. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Victor and Albert. Frank had a voracious appetite for learning. He loved and held many different professions. He graduated from Grossmont HS in 1952 and received a Bachelor's degree from SD State and Master's degree from USD. He worked at General Dynamics from 52 to 56 in engineering. He left for a position as a design engineer in St. Louis, MO. In 58 he was back in San Diego and hired by Solar Aircraft as a design engineer for aerospace projects, including the Atlas missile. Frank was a stage manager for Jim Pagni Productions, putting on musical groups including Elton John, Sonny and Cher, KISS and others. Frank had supporting roles in many SD Opera productions. Frank worked for the SD Harbor Police and SD Police Reserves, attaining the rank of Sgt. before landing at SD City College, where he spent the remainder of his career. He held positions as Asst. Dean of Students, Director of Admissions and Records and Director of Learning and Tutoring. He participated in the design of the Student Service Center and also was a part-time Professor of Mathematics before retiring in 2003. Frank married Ronni in 1987 after a six-year courtship. They loved to travel the world and enjoyed approx. 25 cruises. They enjoyed their second home in Rosarito Beach, Baja, Mexico, where Frank spent many hours enjoying the balcony, overlooking the ocean and eating wonderful Mexican food. Frank enjoyed musical theater and dining out. In his earlier years, Frank was an avid body builder and health advocate. Frank loved life! He was an inspiration to many and a very gentle, kind soul. Frank will be missed by many. Frank is survived by his wife and love of his life, Ronni; by daughter Sarah Bargsten (Travis), and grandsons David, Jonathan and Samuel Bargsten; daughters Lynnda Echevarria, Lori Jordan, Lona Moreno, Lisa Echevarria and son Frank, Jr., from a previous marriage; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by stepson Brandon Kline.Special thanks also to Frank's caregiver, LaTasha, with whom he shared a special bond. A Celebration of Frank's life will be held on Tuesday, 5/15 at 12 noon at the Sally Linn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego 92113.
