Dr. Frye cared for both our children in a warm and wonderful way. I knew him as a social worker caring for foster children when we were both young professionals in the sixties. I later chose him as our pediatrician when I later had children. I treasure my memories of his caring for children!

Dr. Frye was the best! Although I never looked forward to the shots as a child he had a way to make everything better. I’m very lucky to have known him.

It is with great sadness to learn of Dr. "French Frye's" recent passing. He was a wonderful pediatrician for my children. He had endless patience and an abundance of kindness as a person, a physician and a friend. I was fortunate to have Fred for a friend of our little family group, and as a professional mentor. He was so helpful and so happy for us when we got our sailboat which provided years of fun. He even accompanied us to the Marine Supply Store in Pt. Loma and introduced the kids to the owner, a friendly lady by the name of Tommie. The kids would head to the room where she kept huge bags of popcorn. Fred was truly a pillar in the community and contributed in so many ways. Certainly he has left a wonderful legacy and made a definite impact on the lives of so many people. RIP, Fred. Blessings to his family and friends, as the void he leaves is pretty big. Heaven has a special place for him. Love, the "Whitwers" Jan, Jonathan and Bethany.

Fred was a friend for more than 50 years and was my sponsor for the SDYC. He was my Children's pediatrician and was in the operating room for their birth and immediately came out to congratulate me on their birth. He was a true gentleman and a man of many talents. I will miss seeing him in our Point Loma neighborhood but hope to continue to see his wife Joy.

We are so saddened by Dr. Frye's passing. When my son Chuck was born my dad, Dr. Charles Isham OB/GYN, recommended Dr. Frye as his pediatrician. Fred was a fantastic doctor, friend and human being. We know everyone who knew him loved him.

I will always remember Fred. He truly was a great friend, pediatrician, mentor, and kind and generous man. I owe him a great deal for his help in getting me started in pediatric practice in San Diego. The office at First and Juniper was a special place when he was there. Thank you, Fred.

Fred was the first person I met attending my first Grand Conseil as the soon to be inducted GS of Miami. We hit it off right away. I really enjoyed all of our conversations each year.

Having friendly chats with Fred before and after committee meetings at the Zoo (and occasionally at the Globe) was a highlight of my time on the Development committee. He was a true gentlemen, and always kind. My deepest condolences to his family and friends -- having a person like Fred in your life is a rare gift.

There is a large hole in our hearts for our friend, Fred. We'll miss the runs, the sailboat races, Rotary meetings, and the infamous Sailing Arts and Science Awards (the awards ceremony that became the NYEEMA awards at SDYC). But we have his family to continue to enjoy especially Joy. Rest in peace, skipper.

I have fine memories of his work for foster children in his office in my work as a county social worker in the sixties. He was always kind and considerate of children, foster parents and social workers!
