Hans Ernst Kneile Obituary
Hans Ernst Kneile March 19, 1934 - June 23, 2018 SAN DIEGO Hans E. Kneile, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 23rd, 2018. Hans was born in Holzmaden, Germany, on March 19, 1934. After completing his schooling, he attended trade school for four years in Kirchheim where he became a cabinetmaker. He went to work at a small airport as a segelflieger, working on small gliders. It was there that he grew to love flying, a passion that continued throughout the rest of his life. After a few years, he went to work in Munich driving a truck, making deliveries to businesses for about two years. While living in Munich, he saw an ad in the newspaper that offered to sponsor interested candidates to come to the United States. He travelled by boat from Germany to New York and eventually moved to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, he saw an ad in the newspaper, this time looking for "German cabinetmakers". He worked at this job until 1968. In Spring of 1961, Hans took an extended trip back to Germany and met his wife, Trudy. Later that summer Hans returned to the United States. Trudy soon followed, arriving on Thanksgiving Day. They continued to date and were married on March 9, 1963. They made their first home together in Los Angeles. In May 1964, they were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Marion. A year later, in March 1965, they were again blessed with their second daughter, Carmen. In 1968, Hans and Trudy moved their young family to San Diego when he found a new job here and made it their home together for the next 50 years. Throughout his life, Hans continued to love flying. He took flying lessons and received his pilot's license during the 1970s. His other passions included swimming, hiking, sight seeing throughout the United States and spending time with family and his grandchildren. Hans was a very kind and gentle man, always smiling and maintained a positive outlook on life. Hans is survived by his wife, Trudy of 55 years, his sister, Elfriede Kneile, Marion and James Walker, Carmen Kneile and Jennifer Loper, his three grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica and Madison.Family, friends, and others whose lives Hans touched are invited to the Reformation Lutheran Church at 4670 Mt.
