Obituary Condolences

SCHREINER, HUGO CHARLES Hugo Charles Schreiner passed away October 6, 2011, at the age of 63. His life was filled with adventure and fun, beginning with three years in the Navy where he learned about airplanes, sailing, and played a lot of baseball. After marrying Martha in 1975, he built a 40' sailboat, then went on to sail competitively in the Star Class. He won two World Championships - Capri, Italy in 1986, and San Francisco in 1992. Hugo won a gold medal in the Pan American Games. He also won the 1987 European Championship in Kiel, Germany, and numerous fleet and district championships. After 15 years of competitive sailing, Hugo switched to motor-cycling. Hugo and Martha made eight motorcycle trips to the Alps, learning every road. As a contractor, he enjoyed the creativity and his customers, but most importantly his crew meant a lot to him. Hugo was an active member of Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, and starting a men's Bible study. He leaves behind Martha, his two daughters, Dana Ryan Lande and Sara Riley Rhoads, two son-in-laws, Halvor Lande and Nick Rhoads, two grandchildren, Liam Lande and Whitney Arrow Rhoads, and his dear brother John Schreiner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Media Ministries, Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, 2128 Chatsworth Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92107. Service on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 320 Date Street, San Diego.
