July 6, 1925 - December 29, 2020
Irwin (Win) Batter passed away at age 95 on December 29, 2020, from COVID-19 at his home in Oceanside, CA. He was born in New Haven, CT to Samuel and Marion Batter. At 17, he joined the Marine Corps during WWII and saw action in the South Pacific. He ran several successful businesses in New Haven, CT and Vista, CA. He had a love of history and art, and spent his retirement years painting, drawing and sculpting. He had a wonderful ability to converse and possessed a keen sense of humor. The family wishes to thank Elizabeth Hospice and his caregivers Vicky and Winlove ("Bobby"); in particular for the heroic care given by Bobby in the last two weeks of Dad's life as he battled COVID. He is survived by five daughters and four granddaughters. He was predeceased by his grandson and his second wife, Elaine Leotti. Funeral service and interment at Beaverdale Memorial Park, CT was private.
