Joanie exhibited unconditional love and generosity to all. She will always be in our hearts which gives us a smile. We remember her love for the Lord and our prayers are with the family. She and Jim were so great together and we have wonderful memories of staying on their property with our Airstream. We were friends since Kindergarten and she was the "Star" of my 40th Birthday!

Joanie was one of the sweetest and kindest of anyone I've ever known. And her beauty---far more than skin deep alone. I will never be able to see a women wearing red, red lipstick, with nails to match, without thinking of her and how lovely she looked the last time I saw her at our class reunion last year, as she sat next to me on her porch. Others waiting in line....like moths drawn to a warm flame.
I think now of Psalm 116:15: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." With her, she has taken a part of my heart. But she will return it to me the next time we met....in that place that God has prepared for all who love and trust Him. In that place where, perhaps our mansion will set side-to-side. My graditude goes out to her, and to her beloved Jim, for opening their home for our class reunion. What a legacy, without which some of us would lost contact years ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

In an attempt to express sympathy for the passing of Joan, it is hard to distinguish that line between family and friends, because she embraced us all with her sweet touch of unconditional love. I will always treasure our high school memories, as well as all of the parties at her and Jim's amazing hacienda. My heart and prayers go out to Jim, Paulette & Paul, and the entire Cooke-Hedstrom-Randall family.
With love and lifelong friendship,

To Joanie's family, my sincere condolences. I'd like to echo Bev and Paul Young's words. As recently as last March, when we exchanged phone calls, she sounded upbeat and very much like her old self despite her challenges at the time. What a gal! What good memories she left with all of us!
