Julia B. Thompson Obituary
Julia B. Thompson August 21, 1968 - May 4, 2018 Carlsbad Julia B. Julie' Thompson passed away Friday morning, May 4, 2018 in her home in Carlsbad. She was born Julia Babbette VanMiddlesworth on August 21, 1968, in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Paul A. and Naomi J. VanMiddlesworth.Julie and her family moved to San Diego County in 1981, settling in Solana Beach where they lived for many years. She graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 1986. Julie began her office management career at Evertek Computer Corporation in Carlsbad in 1990. At Evertek, she met Patrick J. Thompson, the man she would marry in 1996 and raise a family with for the next 22 years.Julie eventually left the workforce in favor of raising the couple's four children. She began homeschooling her younger three children in 2003, partnering with the Coastal Academy for the past 15 years. She served in many capacities in various sports and rec programs around the north Carlsbad community, and served with the San Diego Registrar of Voters, having her teenage children join her in working the past several elections.Julie, her husband, and children are all members of North Coast Church, where she was a regular leader and participant in various mother's, women's, and small-group ministries. Julie is survived by her husband, Patrick Thompson; daughter Kristen and her husband Matthew Balsavich; daughter Nicole, and sons Andrew and Joshua (Jo). She is also survived by her parents Paul and Naomi of San Marcos, Ca.; brother Jim and wife Karen of Chapin, South Carolina; brother Stephen of Nipomo, Ca.; and sister LaRee of San Marcos.Julie's life was truly a triumph of her spirit and will live on with everyone she touched. There was an innocence about her that saw nothing but the goodness in people and her wide-eyed eagerness for adventure and learning was contagious. Certainly we miss her, but her legacy will just as certainly pass through us to those we touch and beyond.God withholds the knowledge and understanding of what lies beyond, only faith tells us that something is there. In that place Julie is telling us to not waste precious time in sadness over her passing but to take what she has taught us, her legacy, and use it to live our lives with optimism and joy. We hear you Julie and thank you for everything. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at North Coast Church, Vista.
