Ken Bass Obituary
Ken Bass OCEANSIDE Kenneth Cecil Bass was born in 1925 in Hermosa Beach, California. Ken enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 during World War II and served his country repairing planes in the Pacific on the Northern Mariana Islands of Tinian and Saipan. After the war, he returned to Los Angeles where he attended Compton College and USC, graduating with a degree in engineering. He met his sweetheart, Jan, during this time and they married on December 26, 1948. They had three sons and raised them in homes in Chino and Anaheim Hills that Ken designed and built himself. The accomplishment and ingenuity of these homes was a source of pride and the setting for many happy memories for the family. He and Jan loved to travel, especially to Mexico. Ken adored Jan through all of the 63 years they were married, caring for her over many years before her passing in 2011. He was proud of the men his sons grew up to be, and loved their families dearly. He had many friends and made new ones all the time and anywhere. His generosity, mischievous sense of fun, and love of a good story, ensured a lively time whenever he was around. He will live on in the hearts of his sons: Tom, Tay, and Kelly; his daughters-in-law: Juanita, Kathleen, and Debby; his grandchildren: Lauren, Kasey, and Ethan; and brother Bob and sister-in-law Vicki. Ken passed away on August 21, 2018 after a long life well-lived. September 1, 1925 - August 21, 2018
