Louise Manganelli Obituary

Louise Manganelli October 15, 1938 - December 6, 2018 Oceanside Louise Manganelli was born in Winnipeg, Canada, to Archie and Ida Orloff and passed away quietly in her home. Louise came to this country in 1955 and entered Long Beach State college where she earned a BA in psychology and met her husband of 25 years, Paul Manganelli. She earned a Master's degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Nutrition in 1997. In 1976 she reentered the workforce via real estate sales but instead bought some for herself and the residential rental business was born. A stint in corporate food service taught her to do that for herself managing the La Paloma Theater in Encinitas and then a State of California concessionaire creating the Moonlight Munchery in Encinitas and San Elijo Camp Store. After passing on the beach legacy to her kids, she set her sights on nutrition and Village Natural Foods in Carlsbad, CA, was open for business. Helping her customers find the right herbs and vitamins to address their health concerns became her passion for almost 20 years. In 2018 she published a pamphlet entitled Common Sense Health providing nutritional guidance. Louise was politically active and a member of the League of Women Voters since the 1970s but her favorite cause was her grandchildren. She taught the girls how to be strong women through gentle persuasion sweetened with outings to the theater or favored restaurants. She was an expert bridge player, earning masters points in a game she loved and played her entire adult life, participating in a Wednesday night game with the same group of women for over 40 years. Louise is survived by a sister Marlene Arnao, a brother Jerome Orloff, children Jo Dee Katz, Steven Manganelli, Joseph Manganelli and Laurel Manganelli, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was well loved and will be missed by many. Wishing you nothing but five-no trump hands forever, Louise!

Louise regularly participated in my aquatic exercise class. She also spoke to many people in our community on how to obtain optimal health. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She is already missed.

Louise was a great help to me when I started my business 19 years ago. She gave me lots of good guidance and advice and we shared many a laugh over lunch now and then. I was sad to hear of her passing, but, will always remember her with fondness. Linda Rosso
