Marjorie Marge' Edmunds December 19, 1925 - August 24, 2018 Chula Vista Marjorie "Marge" Edmunds, 92, a longtime resident of Chula Vista, passed away peacefully Friday, August 24, 2018 at Fredericka Manor in Chula Vista. Marge was born December 19, 1925 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Nicholas and Lulu Burggraf. Her parents Nick and Lu founded and ran a successful road construction business that built a significant part of the road system in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Marge, her twin brother Mark, and older brother Robert grew up in a busy and happy household, with a large extended family in Idaho and Montana. She attended Holy Rosary School in Idaho Falls, and spent long summers at the family ranch outside West Yellowstone in Montana. Marge entered the University of Arizona in 1943. She met her future husband, James "Jim" Edmunds, when he returned to the University of Arizona after serving in the United States Navy in World War II. Marge and Jim married in December of 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and began a life adventure and successful marriage of 60 years. After college, Marge and Jim moved to San Francisco, where Jim attended UC Hastings College of Law and Marge worked as a secretary at Franzia Brothers Winery to support the family. Upon completing law school, Jim and Marge moved to San Diego. Jim opened a private law practice. They made their home in Chula Vista, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Marge raised a family of four children, was an excellent homemaker, and found time for active involvement in her community, including work with the Junior Women's Club and Social Service Auxiliary. She instilled in her children a love of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming with frequent summer trips to Idaho Falls, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park. In her later years, Marge enjoyed travelling with her husband and family, and spending time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the joy of her life and she reveled in their company and accomplishments. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Jim, brothers Mark and Robert, and her first daughter Peggy Lu. She is survived by her son Garret; daughter Karen, her husband Steve and their children Katheryn (Spencer), James David (Sylvia) and Juliana (Megan); son Jim, his wife Robin and their children Riley, Kelsey and Evie; daughter Kristine, her husband Frank and their son Bodhi; and great-grandchildren Jameson and Miia. Mass and celebration of Marge's life will be held at the Mission San Luis Rey on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations to the (www.alz.org ) are welcome.
