Martin Farfel Obituary

Martin I. Sully' Farfel San Diego Martin "Sully" Farfel passed away peacefully at his home on July 5th. Born to Paul and Olga Farfel in Portsmouth, Virginia, he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He met and married the love of his life, Barbara Levine, in 1960, and they were married for 57 years. He served in the US Navy and then worked for the federal government for 25 years while living in the Washington DC area. He also earned an MBA from American University and was honored to be a participant in a one year "mid-career fellow" program at Princeton University. After retiring from the government, he and Barbara relocated to Rancho Santa Fe, and he began a second career as a financial adviser with Morgan Stanley. He was a wonderful and devoted friend to so many, volunteered weekly at Interfaith Food Pantry, enjoyed skiing, and was an avid tennis player. He is survived by his wife, two children, six grandchildren, who knew him affectionately as "Pop," and three siblings, including his twin brother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.interfaithservices.org or to the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. January 30, 1936 - July 5, 2017
