Richard Deforest Dick' Ring March 25, 1925 - August 3, 2018 Vista, CA Richard Deforest Ring passed away at the age of 93 on August 3, 2018. He was called Dick by his friends. He was also called "Bobby," the name given by his granddaughter Katie. He was born on March 25, 1925 to Sidney O. and Myrtle G. Ring in High Point, North Carolina. Dick was drafted into the Army Air Corps at the age of 18. After the war ended, he entered Loyola University in Los Angeles, applying the GI Bill, where he earned a degree in Accounting. On July 30, 1950, Dick and Donna Lee Goddard (Ring) were married. They moved to Los Angeles when he attended USC Law School. In 1954 he received his law degree and moved to Vista, California, where he opened his law practice that spanned 64 years before retirement. Dick and Donna were married 68 years. Dick and Donna have two children. Daughter Linda Lee Ring Dornon and her husband Michael S. Dornon. Granddaughter Kate Dornon Watson and her husband Brandon Watson. Grandson Bryce M. Dornon. Son Richard Deforest Ring, Jr. and wife Brendaly Dupa Ring. Grandchildren Tarra Gweynn Dupa and Raphael Dupa. Dick was a long-standing member of the Optimist Club of Vista. He received many recognition awards, including the 2018 Jimmy Award for his outstanding practice in family law. He enjoyed playing golf and reading. He loved being around his family. The memorial for Richard D. Ring will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Vista, California, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Optimist Club of Vista, and Friends of the Vista Library.
