Rina Alexopoulos Papatheofanis Obituary
Rina Alexopoulos Papatheofanis November 10, 1921 - July 8, 2018 San Diego Born on November 10, 1921, in Kaparelli, Peloponnese, Greece, Rina peacefully reposed in the Lord on July 8, 2018, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by John, her husband of 54 years. She is survived by her sons Frank and Bill, daughter-in-law Julie, grandchildren John, Christopher, Katherine, and Matthew, nieces and nephews, and her sister Georgia. Rina was a member of St. Anthony Orthodox Church in San Diego since relocating in 1998 from Berkeley, Illinois. She emigrated from Athens to St. Louis in 1951 and eventually settled in Chicago where she married and raised her family. Although she worked as a seamstress, and had other jobs, her passion and identity was a homemaker. She was a faithful Orthodox Christian her entire life and was known in the community as Yiayia she will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her very much. The Funeral Service will held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 1 pm at St. Anthony Orthodox Church, 2825 Merton Ave., San Diego. The interment service will follow at 2:30 pm at El Camino Memorial, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, with a mercy meal to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Saint Katherine (usk.edu). May her memory be eternal.
