Robert Frauenberger Obituary

Robert T. Frauenberger 05/12/1930 ~ 05/15/2010 OCEANSIDE -- Remembering the life of Robert (Bob) T. Frauenberger, who passed suddenly on Saturday, May 15, 2010, with his family by his side. Robert was preceded in death by his son, David Frauenberger; and survived by his sister, Betty Blackburn; daughter, Karen Lopez; and two sons, Robert Frauenberger, and Donald Frauenberger (Jennifer Brown); a nephew, niece, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. He was born in Pasadena, Calif., and moved to Oceanside, Calif., in 1938, where he resided for the remainder of his glorious life, living in the same home for 70 years. Robert graduated from the Army/Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif., in 1948. He worked for Kovakar (an industrial shop towel business) until he opened his own business "Pacific Towel," which he operated for more than 40 years. Robert played in local basketball leagues into his 30s, bowling leagues into his 60s, and played Bridge into his 80s. He was an avid water skier who would spend hours coaching anyone that wanted to learn to ski, and once you learned, he was your biggest fan. He loved being on his boat in the water at Lake Havasu. Robert was a gallant man who touched the lives of many. His life is celebrated by the extended family and friends with whom he shared jokes and laughs, or good times in the sun. A memorial for Robert will be held between 3 and 7 p.m., Thursday, June 10, at the Oceanside Elks Club, 444 Country Club Lane in Oceanside. Contact for information will be his son, Donald (760-250-9318). Please come ready to share your memories in a "casual atmosphere." In lieu of flowers, his family request that you donate to an animal shelter of your choice. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

Bob, we met when I came to the bridge club in 1977. I LOVED you then and now. Everytime I walked in you would rush up to me, and if I tarried you would shift from foot to foot until I gave my full attention to your latest joke. I was your very best audience. A true gentlemen, a real sweetheart, and I will miss you from the bottom of my heart.

I'am sure going to miss uncle bob. He was always upbeat and
had a few jokes to tell. The last time I saw bob was about a month ago when he came by the shop. I was getting ready to close down and get a jump on traffic because the family and I
were going to the desert. I did not tell bob I was leaving.
We talked for more than a hour . I'am so glad
I didn't tell bob I had to go.

I truly hope that there is a Rainbow Bridge where the dogs you loved wait for you to greet them. Bob never stopped talking about his big dog, Magic. I know nothing would make Bob happier than to be with Magic again. I'll try to be happy for both of them, but right now I want to hear Bobber laugh just one more time.

I remember Bob from his days at Oceanside-Carlsbad High School and at the Army Navy Academy in Carlsbad. I attended the dances and was in Masque & Wig at the Academy. I considered Bob my friend although I only saw him a few times after high school. I remember him as a very kind and fun person and I know his many friends will miss him.
