VUTETAKIS, SPYROS Spyros "Sam" Vutetakis, 88, died November 27, 2009, in La Mesa. He was a Veteran of Pacific and European Theaters of World War II and decorated combat infantryman in Patton's 3rd Army, 71st Division. An MSW, he worked in Cleveland as a gerontologist and received much praise as one of the first non-Jewish social workers helping Holocaust victims at Jewish agencies in Pittsburgh and Albany. He was a strong advocate for peace, marching even in his eighties and was well-known for his generosity and kindness. Survived by his wife Marjorie, sons Jim (Ruth) and George (Sara), grandson Spyros and sister Irene Laggeris. Online memorial at www.spyrosvutetakis.com.
