William Joseph Compas Obituary
William Joseph Bill' Compas October 5, 1929 - October 28, 2018 Carlsbad Bill's rich and vibrant life was never better than when surrounded by family. He dearly and absolutely loved his wife of 66 years, Pat. Along with tennis and golf, he loved to read, tell jokes, and attend the theatre and movies with his wife. He was actively involved with St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Carlsbad (a founding member) and served on the City of Carlsbad Planning Commission from 1994 to 2002. Bill began his career in nuclear energy with research at Iowa State University and Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation, and then held various management positions with United Nuclear Corporation, General Atomics Corporation, ultimately retiring in 1991 as President of Pyropower Corporation, the San Diego-based division of Ahlstrom Pyropower Corporation. Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat, three sons, James (Joan), William Joseph III (deceased 2013), Thomas (Esther) and two daughters, Kathleen Siemion (Eric) and Maureen Clifford (John). Bill had six grandsons, Kevin (Jess), Matthew, Ryan (Melanee), Sean, Patrick and Thomas, four granddaughters, Patricia (David), Elizabeth, Erin, and Caitlin, and three great-grandchildren, Hazel, Avery, and Carson. We will celebrate Bill's life with a Rosary on Friday, November 16, at 7:30 pm and Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 17, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 6628 Santa Isabel Street in Carlsbad. Reception follows in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church Building Fund in Bill's name.
