Lynnette Smith Obituary
LYNNETTE SMITH December 1, 1951-August 26, 2003 Lynnette Moore, 51, died in the arms of her loved ones in the early morning of August 26, 2003. She had courageously faced a recurrence of breast cancer that had ravaged her body but never diminished her loving spirit. Services were held at Glen Abbey in Bonita on August 29, 2003. Lynnette was the adored daughter of William H. and Eva R. Smith, who preceded her last year in death. Long-time residents of Chula Vista, the Smiths made their home a welcome place to all, and Lynnette continued that family tradition. She was a 1969 Graduate of Castle Park High School, and kept close ties with all of the friends of her youth. While she lived in Germany for a time, and loved to talk about her visit to Europe, and especially Paris, home for her was right here, and here she preferred to stay. Lynnette was the cherished and beloved wife of George V. Moore. He was the love of her life for twenty-five years, and she felt that he was the greatest blessing she, her son, and her parents ever received. Her strength through this last year was due in great part to the devoted care he gave her, and the gentle love with which he replenished her spirit. She leaves behind her only son, Guerin Payne, and his newly married wife Kelly, whom she embraced as a daughter. It gave her enormous joy and peace to be able to attend their wedding on August 9, 2003. She is also survived by her brother Ernie Smith (Roxie) and his family. She leaves behind her sister Betty Bixby, and her niece Julia Bixby, and nephew Donald Bixby (Sherry). As she embraced her friends as true members of her family, she is also mourned by her "sister-friends" including Marta Gallietta (Tony); Melissa Raddetz (Ron); and Paula Tupper (David) and all their children to whom Lynnette was the most wonderful aunt. There are too many others to be able to mention them all, but she cherished each and every one of you. Lynnette was an amazing individual, unique in her ability to touch others. She was a devoted wife, mother, and community member. She gave freely of herself to the PTA, to literacy programs, and to the church as a Sunday School teacher. Children were her special love, and she worked as a teacher ' s assistant at Clear View Charter School in Chula Vista, where she quickly became a part of their hearts. She once received a "Mother Earth" award because she nurtured everyone within her circle. She was a member of the Chula Vista Quilting Guild, and a member of a local reading group. No one who ever met Lynnette could ever forget her. She was an inspiration to all who watched her fight against the cancer that ended her life too soon. She shared her optimism and spirit with all her fellow "chemo-buddies", and made all of her care givers into friends. She was irreplaceable, and she will be greatly missed.
