Lee Shapiro

1923 - 2018

Lee Shapiro May 31, 1923 - June 6, 2018 San Diego Lee Shapiro (ne Green) was born and raised in London, serving in the British Air Force during WW II, and was part of the Bletchley Park campaign. After the war, Lee joined ORT and worked in the Bergen Belson concentration camp helping survivors of the Nazi atrocities. After this, she settled down in Israel with her husband, Moshe Shapiro, whom she met in Paris. In the late 1950s, they emigrated to Santa Cruz, CA. Lee became actively involved with Temple Beth El and Hadassah, and was a dedicated stay-at-home mom to her daughter, Natalie, and also became skilled at woodworking, painting and photography. When Moshe retired from his real estate business, they moved to San Diego and Lee quickly joined Hadassah, serving on the Board and helping plan fundraising events. Lee also loved planning trips abroad and exploring new places. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Jewish or environmental organization.
