Captain Lackowski was my CO on the USS Durham back in the early 1980s. Several years later we ran into each other at a Naval medical center getting our annual physical. He was always in great shape, and mentioned that he was getting an EKG and his heart rate was so low it triggered an alarm. Too bad there isn't some way for all of us to stay in touch.

I worked with Don in our Navy Reserve Unit here in San Diego. Our unit met one weekend a month.
We would like to attend his memorial and celebration of life on the Midway. Please let us know when that will be.

Don will be missed at the Midway museum. Friendly and dedicated, with many generous years of service to a great cause. His legacy will live on.

I only knew Don for a short period of time, a few months, unfortunately. What a fun, kind, easygoing guy, with an impressive military career! We will miss him terribly, our love to you, Liz, and to Kay as well.
