Barbara Beck Wienold, affectionately known as "Poops" to family and friends, left us on May 25, 2018. Barbara was born August 1, 1955, and grew up just outside the Village of Arroyo Grande. She attended A.G. High and Cuesta College and graduated from Cal Poly with a BA in economics. She followed an eclectic career path: Barbara worked in the real estate and financial sectors; was a notary public; volunteered at the South County Library; cleaned bricks (for one day); and her favorite of all, she worked as an artists' model for several years. Barbara dearly loved her family and friends; her Jack Russell terrier, Zippy; walks with her neighbors; cooking shows; photography; water skiing and orchids. She made an exceptional lemon meringue pie and for many years, treated her family and friends to an annual eggnog party. Barbara had a wonderful appreciation of the absurdities of life, was an excellent story teller and had a wickedly keen (but never mean) sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Trudy Beck. Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Wienold of Arroyo Grande; two daughters and sons-in-law: Niki and Connor Bonetti and Jackie and Caleb Ralph; a son, Bobby Wienold and his fiancee, Amanda Snyder; grandchildren: Liam Bonetti, baby girl Bonetti on the way and Wallace Ralph; a sister, Suzy VanNess and her husband, Darrell; a brother, Jeff Beck and his wife, Shelley; brother-in-law, Paul Wienold and his wife, Barbara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara suffered from drug-resistant major depression and bipolar disorder and researched every treatment available, often sharing what she learned with others who would benefit. Her family has established the Barbara Beck Memorial Fund in her honor, with proceeds to benefit brain research.
