Carole Lee Novak Miller died August 9, 2018, at French Hospital of pulmonary embolus following hip replacement surgery. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Miller, MD; son, Edward Chapin; daughter, Lori D. Prescott; and grandchildren: Kelly, Jordan, Ethan, Evan, Abrielle and Ryan. Carole Lee was born March 2, 1938, in Long Beach, CA and raised in Hollywood where she graduated from Hollywood High School in 1955. She had many exciting experiences growing up and working in Hollywood including winning a popular game show where she was given the opportunity to deliver the first television set to Alaska. She later became the national training director for Elizabeth Arden and moved to New York where she met her soon to be husband of 25 years, Arthur D. Dooley. Together they formed Lee David International and LDI Hospitality Group (hotel management corporations) that operated hotels across the country. While living in Tuscon, Arizona in the late 80's and 90's, she served on the Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs as well as being the first non-medical doctor to serve on the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners. Upon the death of her husband in 1996 she moved to Monterey, CA, and then to San Luis Obispo upon her marriage in 2004. Here, Carole sat on the Board of the San Luis Obispo Opera as well as the Clark Center. Carole Lee will be dearly missed by family and friends.
