George Ingman Roen, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at The Village at Sydney Creek on June 5, 2018. Born in 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, George graduated from the University of Michigan. Following his service in the Korean War, George worked for Ford Motor Company, United Control and Lockheed Martin. He then attended the Harvard Business School and graduated with High Distinction. George was Managing Director, Energy Services Practice for Cresap, McCormick, and Paget, which merged with Towers, Perrin, Forster, and Crosby, prominent San Francisco- based consulting firms. During retirement, George was an avid sailor, hiker, skier, biker, talented carpenter, and model railroad enthusiast. George was a lifelong dog lover and had a deep appreciation for music. George had a passion for the mountains, and he and his wife of 63 years, Ann (nee Doney), had homes near Lake Tahoe and in north Idaho before settling in Avila Beach to be closer to family. George and Ann have three children: David Roen (Jenny) of Chicago, Laurie Daniels of San Mateo and Betsy Toomey (Dan) of Oxnard; and seven grandchildren. The family thanks the Sydney Creek staff for their devoted and compassionate care of George for the past fourteen months. In George's honor, please consider a donation to the or Woods Humane Society of San Luis Obispo.
