Lawson Robert Williams, age 79, of Atascadero, passed away August 1, 2018, at Twin Cities Hospital following complications from pneumonia. Lawson intensely loved and took great pride in his family and often shared about them. He had a special bond with each of his children, grand- children and great-grand- children. Lawson was an avid outdoorsman, with a great love of hunting, fishing and gardening. As a sports enthusiast, he thoroughly enjoyed attending his kids' and grandkids' sporting events, and he related that these were some of the most relished times of his life. Those who knew Lawson, know he was a lifelong, diehard Dodgers fan. Born May 11, 1939, in Santa Maria, CA, he lived in locations throughout California and attended numerous schools, given his father's employment as a farmer/ranch hand. He was proud of the fact that he was a 4th generation native of the Central Coast. At age 16, Lawson was hired as a boxboy for a local grocery chain, Williams Bros. Markets. He worked there until graduating from Lompoc High School and joining the U.S. Air Force at age 18. Following his completion of service, Lawson returned to employment with Williams Bros. Markets, spending a dedicated career spanning 40 years in the grocery industry displaying impeccable integrity and an infallible work ethic. Upon completion of his primary career, he purchased the Montpelier KOA franchise in his favorite hunting region in Idaho. He loved the campground and worked tirelessly with his wife, Karen, for 10 years until their retirement. Much to their children's pleasure, they returned to their home town of Atascadero and lived here for the past 13 years. Lawson was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Roland Williams and Thelma Marcella (Flood) Williams; and his two sisters, Carolyn and Francis. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen; his four children: Lawson Williams II (Ginger), Kim King (Troy), Laura Berna (Charlie) and Morgan Williams (Bonnie); his grand- children: Ryan (Sorin), Lawson III, Andrew, Justin (Emily), Karen, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Logan (Breezy), James, Mika and Levi; his great-grandsons, Solomon and Coleman; his brother and closest friend, James Williams (Joanne); and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He is lastly and equally as significant, survived by his brother-in- hunting, Ron Simoni. No services will be held per Lawson's wishes.
