Patrick O'Daniels
May 19, 1940 - June 13, 2021
San Luis Obispo, California - Patrick Joseph O'Daniels passed away after a long battle with cancer on June 13, 2021. Born in San Luis Obispo, to Howie O'Daniels and Mary (Hughes) O'Daniels. He graduated from San Luis Obispo High School and San Jose State University. To say that Pat had many friends is an understatement. He was an avid historian, artist, and writer who shared his passion for people and their stories through his alumni publication the Ratline. In the last years, he traveled and lived life to the fullest with his friends and companion, Bev Worrell. Pat is survived by his son, Sean, and two grandsons, in addition to his many great friends throughout the state and beyond.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Madonna Inn on August 15 from 2-4 and at the San Jose State Ratline Reunion in October, prior to the SJS football game. A scholarship fund will be set up in memory of Patrick O'Daniels at the SJS Advertising Department (contact [email protected] for scholarship information).

A man of HONOR and a true Gentleman always. he faced his illness with grace and truly a positive outlook. He loved all things "ships and boats" and had a true sense of goodness and generosity always. Pat and I shared histories down to the days as Alter boys and our mischiefs during them.
Pat will find that sailboat in heaven and be on course forever. Miss you Pat! Rich

Pat's presence was always enlightening. If you didn't have a question to ask him, he seemed to sense that and offered something that he thought you needed to know and it would immediately appear to have surfaced off of the top of his head. And you always came away feeling informed. Bless his soul, he was a jovial and informative person to know. Loved by those who knew him intimately and admired by those whom he touched by his presence. RIP dear friend, Patrick. You were a very special soul and are immensely missed.
