Robert Harold Pate, 88, native of San Luis Obispo, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, surrounded by his wife and family at his home. "Pate" was born in San Luis Obispo in March 1923 to Templeton native, Harold and Mabel Pate. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and was stationed in Guam. Pate worked as master mechanic, large equipment operator and general all around "Master" for and with Alex Madonna Construction for 37 years. He was a member of the S.L.O. Flyers, Caballeros, Elks, American Legion and the Eagles. His barbecuing skills were unsurpassed and he always donated his time and effort his clubs. Pate is survived by his loving wife, Dottie Pate; son-in-law, Walk Seidl of Colorado; daughter, Linda Carlson of New Mexico; son, Alan Pate of San Luis Obispo; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Seidl of Colorado. For all of those who knew and loved Pate, details of a celebration of his life are pending.
