Ryan Teixeira On March 4, 2017, our fearless warrior won his VICTORY and went home to be with Jesus. Ryan Teixeira, 20, lived in Pismo Beach, California. Everything Ryan did was accomplished with passion. School wasn't easy for Ryan, so he compensated in every other aspect of his life. He focused, locked in, pronounced, "I got this," and went for itWHATEVER it was. He loved (in no special order) baseball, Nicole, people with special needs, his family, his dog, games, Colorado Mesa University, hunting, fishing, Colorado, writing, laughing, and people, but mostly, Ryan loved Jesus Christ and life. He accomplished greater humanitarian endeavors than most people three times his age. Ryan encouraged every single person he encountered and he never met a stranger. Most importantly, Ryan opened his heart to Jesus Christ as a young boy and never one to make an idle decision, Ryan embraced the gospel and applied its precepts to his life, he never preached to his friends, instead, he lived it! Ryan influenced many people before, during and after his fight with cancer. During his time at UCLA, a celebrity visitor, impressed by Ryan's positive attitude, asked Ryan why bad things happen to good people and Ryan's response was, "because good people know how to handle bad things." No complaint ever crossed his lipseven to the very end. His courage, bravery, sense of humor, love of life and his indomitable spirit made any meeting with Ryan memorable. Born in Santa Maria, California on October 13, 1996, he attended local schools and graduated from Arroyo Grand High School with the class of 2015. Ryan received multitudes of awards and accolades, but nothing is more memorable than the impact he had on people's lives. Ryan leaves his mom and dad, Steve and Holly Teixeira; his brother Aaron; his girlfriend Nicole Pitman; grandparents, Clovis and Leslie Clinton and Allan and Cee Teixeira; aunts and uncles, Christy and Vince Ferrante, John and Heather Teixeira, Clovis and Bonnie Clinton, Alissa and Adam Donnelly, and Brianna and Norman Bassett; great- grandparents, Madeline Bianchi, Margaret Paden and Josephine Borges. Ryan also leaves many cousins and extended family that were continually entertained by his homegrown riddles and games. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the foundation Ryan himself created to support others with life threatening diseases: 17 Strong, 720 Thousand Hills Road, Pismo Beach, CA 93449; or to Colorado Mesa University Foundation Attn: Ryan Teixeira Scholarship, 1450 N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81501; or by calling 970-248-1902 Ryan's family has no words to sufficiently express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at UCLA Medical Center (both Santa Monica and Westwood Campuses) for their exemplary and compassionate care. We could never have survived this ordeal without the prayer support of the thousands of people around the world who prayed for us, visited, sent encouraging words and gifts and just generally loved us through this. For our lifetime we will thank God every time we think of you, Philippians 3:1. A Celebration of Ryan's Life will be held at 1:17 pm, Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Arroyo Grande Football Field, 495 Valley Road, Arroyo Grande, Calif.
