Robert Tuley Obituary
Robert Edmund Tuley, 40, died Dec. 1, 2002 in Paso Robles. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Paso Robles. Robert was born March 10, 1962 in Paso Robles. His ancestry shows a long line of Paso Robles and North County residents. On the Tuley side of the family, his great-great-grandparents moved from Southern Missouri to Paso Robles after the Civil War. His great grandfather, John Tuley was born in Paso in 1875 and at his death in 1973 was the oldest native-born resident in the county. His mother's side of the family, the Iversen's, also homesteaded in Paso in the 1800's. Robert lived on the Iversen Ranch, east of Paso, for the last several years. Robert graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1980. He attended Jr. College in Coalinga, and Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. Robert has had varied careers. He was the manager of a commercial industrial park. He ran a video business taping social events such as weddings and graduations. He held a position as the technical support for a national promotional firm and traveled throughout the U.S. for events. He had his own house painting business for a number of years. Most recently he worked at Atascadero State Hospital as a painter. When friends and family think of Robert they celebrate his humor. Most who knew him can share a practical joke or the unique humorous perspective he brought to his life and those around him. Robert was experiencing headaches and small seizures in May 2001. UCSF Medical Hospital, Neuro-Oncology Dept., diagnosed a brain tumor and helped with a series of medical treatments including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy over the last year. He lost the battle with cancer but never lost his bravery or humor. Robert is survived by his wife Debbie Nagle Tuley; father Don Tuley; daughter Lea Makena Tuley; siblings, Leesa Tuley, Robin Tuley Masia, Kimberly Tuley Conway, Jami Tuley Shane, Jason Tuley and Tricia Tuley; nephews and nieces Ryan McKnight, Lauren Shane, Madison Shane and Mateo Masia; and many loved aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Partner's of the Central Coast, 277 South St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. Services are under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home of Paso Robles.
