Jared Rossetto Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jared Rossetto who died in a Navy helicopter crash in central Nevada on May 7, 2007. Born in Palo Alto, he was 24 years old; moving to his family's Corralitos home as a toddler. Jared attended Bradley Elementary School in Corralitos and Aptos Junior High School. He graduated from Aptos High School in 2001 and leaves family, friends, and loved ones.

At Aptos High School, Jared played football and was involved in track and field. Him and his buddies; John, Tim and Mike spent many hours body boarding on the beaches of Santa Cruz, golfing at the local courses, and taking snowboarding trips to Tahoe. He worked at the local pizza parlor Big J's and later was a busser/bar back at Seascape Resort.

His family, friends and military "brothers and sisters" will forever remember his gift of being able to make people feel welcome. He could always be counted on due to his indescribable loyalty, and was known by his smile; always happy and able to laugh with people.

At the time of his death, Jared was an aviation warfare systems operator, joining the Navy about a year after graduating from high school. His Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron Seven Dusty Dogs was based in Jacksonville, Florida, and is part of a Carrier Air Wing Three, which deploys on the USS Harry S. Truman. He loved his work, he loved the sea, and he loved the experience of traveling the world. Working hard as a search and rescue air crewman, he was able to purchase his first home in Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived with close friends and enjoyed life with his beloved girlfriend Anna Buckley.

Another important woman in Jared's life was his sister Terra, who meant the world to him. There are no words to explain the love between the two of them. Terra will continue her education at UC Davis to pursue her degree in International Relations.

The mass will be celebrated at Holy Eucharist Catholic Community Church 527 Corralitos Road in Corralitos on Thursday, May 24th beginning at 1 O'clock p.m. Full military honors will follow outside the church with a Celebration of Life at the Local Women's Community Center. A private committal affair will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his mother and father, Jerry and Karen Rossetto; his sister Terra, his Grandparents Jan and Dewain Hagen and Eda Rossetto.

A managed fund is being established in Jared's name for the benefit of children, with it's designation to be determined soon. Any contributions may be sent to 34 Prendergast, Corralitos, Ca. 95076.

My heart is broken at the loss of this crew. Your son and all those that perished are hero's in my heart. My son too is a SAR...we are from Lodi, Ca. and he trained with Bibbo that was also lost in this tradgedy. He is heart broken as I am. These sons do such a job for our country, and like you said..they loved what they did. I am sending you a card and a donation in Jared's name for your memorial...God Bless you all and his girlfriend. God's peace be with all of you. Barbara Freeman...mother of Sam Crawford.
