Julia Hauff went home to be with the Lord on January 2nd, 2018 at the age of 93. Julia was one of 10 children born to Louis and Julia Munkacsy and was born on January 6th, 1924 in Vintondale, Pennsylvania. She spent her early years living and growing up in Roselle Park, New Jersey and also served some time in the Navy as a Wave during WW2. Julia got married and had two children while living on the east coast, then she and her husband moved to California in the early 1950's where they settled in Santa Clara and Julia had two more children. They moved to Santa Cruz and finally settled in Scotts Valley, CA in the late 1950's where Julia remained for over 60 years before moving to Redding, CA. While living in Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley, Julia worked for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. gum factory for over 24 years as head of the employee cafeteria. She was a magnificent cook and they were all sad to see her retire. Julia also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles helping with fundraisers, dinners and many other things to help other people.
Julia was preceded in death by her youngest son John, her parents Louis and Julia Munkacsy, her brothers John, Joey, Steve and Louis Munkacsy and her sisters Helen, Margie and Pearl. She is survived by eldest son Charles Hauff (Kathy), her eldest daughter Joanne DeFoe (Dalton) and her youngest daughter Betty Peters (Kenneth). Julia is also survived by two brothers, Albert Munkacsy (Mary) of Millwakee, Wisconsin and Bill Munkacsy of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Julia has 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean St. Ext. in Santa Cruz, CA 95060. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the City of Hope in Julia's name.
