30 Year Resident of Santa Cruz
A private committal was held in Sacramento for Robert Kercheval who passed away at his home with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Sacramento, he was 95 years old. Mr. Kercheval was a 4th generation Sacramentan. His family were pioneer ranchers settling in the Sacramento Delta in 1850, and proudly continuing ownership of the property.
Mr. Kercheval earned his Aeronautics degree from Sacramento Junior College, and left a legacy of talented colleagues that he trained in his 40 year career with the City of Sacramento. He retired as chief operating engineer and moved to Santa Cruz with his wife Jacqueline, 30 years ago.
His family was of paramount importance in his long and blessed life. They have many memories to cherish. Mr. Kercheval was a member of Capital Christian Center while living in Sacramento, and Christian Life Center upon moving to Santa Cruz.
He and Jackie were world travelers who visited India, China, Europe, and New Zealand. They enjoyed ocean cruising and traveling in their RV.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Jacqueline Willcoxon Kercheval; her daughters and sons-in-laws; Linda Kercheval and Robert Johnson, and Mariposa Kercheval and Gary Niblock. He also leaves his grandchildren: Jennifer Huddy, Gabe Houston, Joel Houston, and great granddaughter, Amor Houston. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Sacramento. The Kercheval Family is very grateful for the love and attention that his wonderful care givers have provided.
