Helen Koepke Obituary

Helen Koepke
Resident of Watsonville
Helen joined her beloved husband Fred and treasured dogs Nicolle and Noelle in Heaven on January 11, 2012. She passed peacefully into the next phase of her remarkable life, surrounded by her family.
Helen devoted her life to making the world a more beautiful place with her paintings and her graciousness. Her critically acclaimed paintings can be found in homes all over the world. Helen's impressionistic style and appealing subject matter contributed to her commercial success as a painter and commissioned artist. She kept current on new art trends and added her own flair to make her creations her own. Her desire to beautify her world inspired her to create masterpieces in all types of media, including cast bronze, clay and oils. Helen's paintings have been displayed in prestigious art galleries and interior design centers in San Francisco, Chicago and Carmel.
Helen's determination and unyielding spirit made her a delightful force to be reckoned with all her life. She celebrated life every day, accepting, embracing and enjoying all the wonders and challenges of life. Her courage and determination inspired her friends and family. She brought joy and a playful curiosity to everything she did. Helen was a blessing to her friends and family.
Her love of sports and tennis kept her active and fit all her life. She was a teaching professional at Pajaro Dunes and was ranked in Northern California's tennis circuit. She shared her love of the sport with her family and friends as well as her students. It was a sport she and Fred played all their lives.
She is missed by her son, daughters, four grandchildren, their families and all who knew her. Helen was, and always will be, forever young.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the SPCA or local Humane Society.
A springtime celebration of Helen's life is planned for April. Arrangements were entrusted to Mehl's Colonial Chapel, Watsonville.

mom, your were forever young and an inspiration to me to always embrace each task in life with passion. I will miss our time shopping and playing teniis and going for coffee. I am so glad that God sent you wonderful friends like Mary Jane to be your friend in the last years after dad left. I am sure that your reunion with dad was glorious in heaven. Love, Your daughter

Dear Helen,
Thank you for sending your good friend Mary Jane to let me know you have gone home to Heaven. We miss you dearly yet it brings comfort knowing you are now surrounded by Fred and your sweet pet companions. I will always remember our last conversation a few days earlier about how pleased you were with the photos and how we would look forward to this new year together. I will treasure our friendship for over 20 years and all the little notes of encouragement that we've sent to each other along the way. You've made it special.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
