Melanie Massera Obituary

Melanie Massera
May 27,1942- February 8,2015
Honolulu, Hawaii
Melanie was born and raised in Watsonville, Ca. She attended Moreland Notre Dame and graduated from Watsonville High School before attending fashion school in New York. For the last 30 years Melanie owned and operated M Massera Management in Waikiki. Melanie was a talented artist who left hundreds of miniature paintings and drawings, many with Hawaiian themes and pictures of loved ones. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends, her kindness, generosity, weekly phone calls and insightful and perceptive advice. She frequently helped family, friends and even strangers and those in need. I think anyone who knew Mel will remember her infectious laughter, her zipping around in her red and white 58 ford convertible, her fashionable attire and her always saying exactly what she thought. Melanie was preceded in death by her parents Walter & Irene Massera.
She is survived by a sister Merilee Massera Friedman (Darryl), brothers Walter Massera Jr. (Melanie J.), and Alfred Massera, nephew Oliver Friedman, nieces, Emily Friedman and Sierra Massera and great nephew Talu Friedman Gonzalez.
May the Lord bless thee with all Good
And keep thee from all Evil
May He enlighten thy heart with immortal Wisdom
And grace thee with eternal Knowledge
May He lift up His merciful Countenance
Upon thee for eternal Peace

Dearest Melanie, I tried to telephone you today and the number wasn't in service. Little did I know I could just think of you and know you would be looking over me. You took me under your wing when I was flailing around in Hawaii. Because of your love and influence, I was asked to dance a Tribute to Isadora Duncan. And now, almost 4 decades later, I am again performing a tribute to Isadora. I know this pleases you. You believed in me. Dear, dear Melanie. Rest in peace and in joy. Love you deep and forever. AS THE LIGHT OF YOUR BEING BECAME ONE WITH YOUR SOUL, O WHAT A MAGNIFICENT SIGHT TO BEHOLD! HAPPY AND LAUGHING YOUR SOUL, IS NOW FREE, I UNDERSTAND NOW WHAT IT MEANS TO JUST "BE"AS YOU REACHED FOR THE STARS, ON THE WINDHORSE YOU RODE, I CAUGHT A GLYMPSE OF HEAVEN THATS WHERE YOU WILL BE. I STARTED TO CRY, BUT I KNEW IN MY HEART, YOU TOLD US THIS STORY, IT WAS DRAWN THROUGH YOUR ART. I WILL REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS, ITS SO EASY TO DO, THROUGH THE MEMORIES, ALL THE LAUGHTER, AND BEAUTIFUL HAWAII TOO. MY HEART HOLS THESE TREASURES, TILL I SEE YOU AGAIN, I LOVE YOU, I MISS YOU WAY PAST THE END, FOREVER MY SISTER, AND MY BEST FRIEND.

My precious friend, I am an old shell on the beach since the phone call telling me of your passing. I'm so very happy for your peace and joy and at the same time so very
very sad for myself and all those people you were a guardian angel to. I talk to you but must admit that the absence of your
healing voice has left a massive void in my life. I can't wait to share laughter and wonder with you again. You reside in my heart, kiddo, and I thank God for my incredible good fortune when you entered my
life 22 years ago almost to the day. My home is full of your gifts and art and letters, and my soul is filled with your light. Fly, fly, fly....
Love you,
Jerry
